SERRA INSTALLS NEW SALT REFINERY IN HONDURAS
Serra Process has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of a new salt refinery in Honduras, marking another milestone in our global expansion and commitment to delivering high-quality salt processing solutions.
Designed to process 2 tons of salt per hour, this new facility provides the client with a reliable and efficient refining line adapted to their production needs and local market requirements.

Features of the new Serra Process salt refinery plant
The plant is equipped with key Serra technologies, including:
- Pusher centrifuge – ensuring effective removal of brine and soluble impurities.
Fluid bed dryer & cooler – achieving optimal moisture reduction and product stabilization for superior salt quality. - Vibrating sieve screen – enabling accurate particle size classification for multiple final products.
- Iodine dosing system, ensuring properly iodized salt for human consumption
The incorporation of an iodine dosifier plays a crucial role in public health. In many regions worldwide—including parts of Central America—iodine deficiency remains a significant concern, contributing to thyroid disorders, developmental issues, and other health complications. By ensuring a controlled and homogeneous iodization process, the new Serra installation supports the production of iodized edible salt, helping strengthen nutritional standards and improve long-term health outcomes in the local population.

The complete process guarantees a refined, safe, and consistently high-quality salt product, available for food-grade applications.
We would like to thank our friends in Honduras for their trust and collaboration throughout the project. Serra remains committed to supporting salt producers worldwide with innovative, efficient, and fully customized processing solutions.
